EVENT REPORT AT FOOT OF PAGE

FROM THE TEAM MANAGER:-

Hi All,

Well Done!!!

By my calculations we won, not by a lot given the fact that we had 6 class winners (out of 7) and 5 2nd places.

Scores Amended to: BL     1188

                               Claro 1157

                               NN      911

The Final is in October 19th at Sutton Park just north of Birmingham . The last time the club went there we won the Harvester Relays (against big clubs ). Not a difficult act to follow!!

Great performance by you all, thanks for the effort.

Best Wishes

Andy

VICTORY!

Border Liners Orienteering Club runners earned their place in the National Compass Sport Trophy Final with a well-managed win at Northern Navigators’ Preliminary Round Orienteering competition at Hamsterley Forest , County Durham on Sunday, coming in ahead on points from clubs from Yorkshire and the North-East. A great win on Blue (men) from David Mainwaring, followed by club-mate Paul Johnson in second place set the standard.

Third places for Karen Blackburn and Raymond Wren, with Top Ten results for Joan Cumpstey, newly arrived from Manchester, Stella Lewsley, Jenny Wren, Chris Lates and Di Mitchell added to Liners' score. Back-up from Jonathan Brown, Andy Lewsley, Judy Johnson and the two Juniors Tom March and Oban Lewsley completed the success.

Nearly thirty members competed, a tribute to Team Manager Andy Lewsley's dedication, and Liners have already booked October 19th for the Final in Sutton Park, Birmingham.

Rough heather-covered moorland with several former quarries to provide technical detail set physical and mental challenges for nearly 400 runners and good planning by Dave Caudwell ensured that the shorter courses in particular were of an excellent technical standard.
